It has been almost ten years since I retired, and I’ve been active in genealogy since. It turns out that the research skills of a bookkeeper transfer over quite well to digging out family details. It also helps if you get a little nosy. And even one small new bit of information can shift your perspective on a person’s story.
My focus is more about fleshing out the stories of my ancestors and less on mere ancestor collection, and I prefer quality sources to quantities of questionable provenance. I also enjoy viewing data from different angles in order to make connections I might otherwise miss.
One important thing genealogy has taught me is that sharing what you know decreases the chance it will disappear. Hence this site. It is very much a work in progress, so check back now and again.
Thanks for taking a look!
